Social Housing, Tranent

A conversion of a disused building in Tranent; providing 7 new affordable homes for the local community. The work was carried out by our client, Castle Rock Edinvar, thanks to the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Housing Fund.

The initial design and applications for statutory consent for the project was undertaken by another practice. We were appointed to assist with technical architectural input throughout construction phase.

We assisted in applying for further statutory consents on the project due to the design changes on site; and assist in the handover of the project from contractor to client.

The building featured a large solar array to lower costs for tenants and improve energy efficiency. All properties in the building have a better energy performance than required by EESH.

As well as providing much needed additional housing, the project improved the appearance and sustainability of the town and made use of a building which would have otherwise remained empty.
